This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Run to the Sun Car Show. From Thursday, March 15th until Saturday March 17, 2018, over 3000 vehicles will be gathering in Myrtle Beach. Come to Myrtle Beach to see a wide variety of amazing classic vehicles driving around. Muscle cars, custom street rods, rat rods, survivors, and numbers matching fully restored vehicles will be cruising the streets. From 8am – 5pm, the cars will be gathered at the old Myrtle Beach Square Mall.
The car show is limited to vehicles produced prior to 1989.
One day is not enough to look at all of the cars at the Run to the Sun Car Show. We were only able to see about half of the cars last year because we attended the car show for only one day. We scheduled our maintenance trip for our condo to overlap with the car show. We were amazed at the number of cars. We are planning to attend again this year!
Come see the Chevelles, GTOs, Corvettes, Camaros, Thunderbirds, classic pickups, 57 Chevy’s, Mustangs, Chargers, Challengers, Street Rods….. Almost every classic car you can think of can be seen at the Run to the Sun Car Show.
Last year, the Run to the Sun Car Show donated nearly $100k to many charities, including the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Children’s Miracle Network at McLeod Children’s Hospital, the Horry County Sheriff’s Department for their Benevolent Fund, and the Grand Strand Miracle League.
One of the best things about the car show is that on Friday evening, as the cars leave the show, they take a cruise down Ocean Boulevard, right past our condos at Ocean Blue 503 and Ocean Blue 803. You can view the cars cruising down Ocean Boulevard from the private street side balconies or get a closer look by standing on the sidewalk as the cars drive right past you. Be extra alert if a Mustang is coming, they are known to steer toward the crowds gathering on the sides of the road after car shows. If you follow cars shows, I am sure you have seen the many videos online of Mustang’s veering toward the crowds. Maybe they don’t like to be watched!!
